El Gran Senor and Woodman , helped establish Coolmore’s reputation on an international level. Thunder Gulch , Honour And Glory , Hennessy , Tale of the Cat , Giant’s Causeway , Scat Daddy and Uncle Mo have all been Champion sires or Champion 2YO sires over the years. Now at Ashford, Caravaggio has made a blistering start at stud with his first 2YO runners in Europe. American Pharoah was Champion First and Second Crop Sire, and it is hoped that another brilliant Triple Crown winner, Scat Daddy’s son Justify , can do likewise judging by the quality of his first crop which are yearlings in 2021.

Ashford Stud is located in the heart of Kentucky’s famous Bluegrass. In the early part of the 20th Century, the initial tract of land that Ashford consisted of was originally owned by Col. Edmund H. Taylor Jr. who founded the Old Taylor Distilleries in nearby Frankfort. Then in the late 1970s Dr. Bill Lockridge began to transform the farm into a state-of-the-art stud. Ashford opened its doors for the 1982 breeding seasonand the stallion rosterwas headlined by Vincent O’Brien’s champion 2YO Storm Bird .
