The land now farmed by Coolmore at Jerrys Plains, New South Wales, has a long association with horses going back to the 1820s when its owner George Bowman had a sire called Pegasus. In the 1890s the Ellis family stood a top Clydesdale stallion by the name of Gallant Scotchman. Then in the early part of the twentieth century the Moses brothers, William and Frederick, stood or bred outstanding thoroughbreds such as St Alwyne , Valais , Nightwatch , Poitrel , Heroic , Manfred and Valicare . There have been 57 Gr.1-winning graduates of Coolmore Australia since 1996 including champion sprinter and champion sire Fastnet Rock and the brilliant juveniles Pride of Dubai and Vancouver . More recently 20 have been Gr.1 winners since the start of 2015 including Winx , Angel Of Truth , Oohood , Catchy , Pinot , Comin’ Through , Unforgotten , Avantage etc. It’s a success story because great horses start with good land, and at Coolmore Australia we take great care of both. Every horse - all the way through the foaling, rearing, weaning and breaking in processes - is treated as if it could be the next champion. And it might be one of yours!
