MATING SUGGESTIONS: Starspangledbanner showed great versatility, establishing himself as a top-class performer in two continents, while winning Gr.1 races over 5.5, 6 and 8 furlongs. His versatility as a stallion is underlined by the fact that his 24 worldwide SWs are out of mares by 22 different stallions. Starspangledbanner is a proven match for mares by MR PROSPECTOR line stallions. His multiple Gr.1-winning son State of Rest is out of a mare inbred 3x3 to MR PROSPECTOR , her sire QUIET AMERICAN being a son of FAPPIANO . MR PROSPECTOR line mares also supplied several of Starspangledbanner’s good 2YOs in 2021. The smart Castle Star has a dam by IFFRAAJ , whose son WOOTTON BASSETT sired the dam of another smart 2YO in Gr.2-placed Cheerupsleepyjean. Gr.3 winner Hermana Estrella is out of a grand-daughter of SPEIGHTSTOWN , and ELUSIVE QUALITY , another son of GONE WEST , sired the second dam of Flotus. Two of his fast Group winners are out of mares by middle-distance Gr.1 winners by SADLER’S WELLS , namely HIGH CHAPARRAL and BEAT HOLLOW . HIGH CHAPARRAL also sired the dam of California Spangle, a big earner in Hong Kong, and the grandam of Breege, a Group-placed 2YO in 2022. He also has a Listed winner and a Gr.3-placed 2YO with dams by GALILEO . Starspangledbanner’s Group winner, Anthem Alexander, is out of a mare by NIGHT SHIFT . DANEHILL will be back in the fourth generation of Starspangledbanner’s foals. The Gr.1-placed Great Wide Open, out of a DANEHILL mare, is inbred 4x2. Starspangledbanner owed two of his black-type 2020 2YOs to daughters of ORATORIO and HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR , and he has two good 2022 2YOs out of daughters of BATED BREATH and ZOFFANY , these being inbred 4x4 to DANEHILL . Starspangledbanner had a €330,000 2022 yearling out of a DANSILI mare. There’s plenty of scope with other DANZIG lines. His fast daughter Flotus has a dam by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT . OASIS DREAM mares had 2022 yearlings sold for 350,000gns and €325,000. A son of Starspangledbanner sired the classic-winning Coeursamba from an ANABAA mare, and this mare had a 550,000gns 2022 yearling by Starspangledbanner. PIVOTAL sired the dams of Gr.3 winner Spangled and Australian Gr.2 winner Brooklyn Hustle, while EXCELLENT ART sired the dam of Gr.2 winner Aloha Star. Mares by KYLLACHY and SIYOUNI are likely to suit. He also has a Group performer out of a daughter of PEINTRE CELEBRE . Starspangledbanner has an Australian Gr.2 winner with a dam by GIANT’S CAUSEWAY and a Gr.2-placed winner out of a FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND mare. SHAMARDAL and LOPE DE VEGA mares should therefore also suit him. Starspangledbanner sired a Gr.1 winner from the DOYOUN branch of the MILL REEF line. Mares by AHONOORA , INDIAN RIDGE and INCHINOR look a sure-fire means of producing smart juveniles and sprinters and it was an INDIAN RIDGE mare which produced Gr.1 winner Millisle.

SHARPEN UP is so far back in Starspangledbanner’s pedigree that there is no obstacle to sending him mares from this male line, which has worked so well with Danehill and his sons. His Gr.2 winner Aloha Star has a second dam by HALLING .
