MATING SUGGESTIONS: Gleneagles has everything anyone could wish for in a young stallion - pedigree, performance, precocious speed and a sound constitution. He also has enough stouter elements in his pedigree to suggest he will have no problem siring middle-distance performers. His pedigree is exceptional. Galileo has secured his 11th sires’ championship in 12 years and Gleneagles’ dam You’resothrilling is a Gr.2-winning sister to Giant’s Causeway, North America’s champion sire in 2009, 2010 and 2012. Another of Gleneagles’ virtues is that he is free of the DANZIG blood which has been the bedrock of much of Galileo’s success. Giant’s Causeway sired Gr.1 winners in Britain and Australia from daughters of DANEHILL . Gleneagles with a DANEHILL DANCER mare has already produced Gr.2 Royal Lodge Stakes winner Royal Dornoch while his Group-placed daughter Tabera has a dam by ORATORIO . Gleneagles’ second-crop yearlings included a 400,000gns filly with a dam by DANEHILL . Mares by EXCEED AND EXCEL , ROCK OF GIBRALTAR , HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR , FASTNET ROCK , DANSILI , KODIAC , MOZART and DUKE OF MARMALADE all have plenty of potential with Gleneagles. He should also shine with mares by CHOISIR and MASTERCRAFTSMAN , another son of Danehill Dancer. The GREEN DESERT branch has plenty to offer as Galileo sired an Oaks winner from a GREEN DESERT mare and dual Derby winner Australia from a daughter of CAPE CROSS . Mares by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT will reinforce Gleneagles’ 2yo ability, as demonstrated when Southern Hills won Royal Ascot’s Windsor Castle Stakes. Gleneagles’ 2019 yearlings included a 200,000gns colt out of an INVINCIBLE SPIRIT mare and a €220,000 colt from an OASIS DREAM mare. Daughters of the champion sprinter ANABAA have a compelling record with Galileo resulting in six Group winners. Gleneagles became his fourth son to sire a black-type winner from them when Royal Lytham won the Gr.2 July Stakes. The CHIEF’S CROWN branch works as Gleneagles sired Gr.2-placed Precious Moments from a GRAND LODGE mare. A growing number of Galileo’s stallion sons have important winners closely inbred to SADLER’S WELLS . Nathaniel’s brilliant Enable is inbred 3x2 while Teofilo’s Dewhurst winner Parish Hall and Frankel’s Oaks winner Anapurna are 3x3. Gleneagles’ Chesham Stakes third Highland Chief has a dam by MONTJEU . Galileo has excellent results with the NUREYEV line including siring ten Group winners from 35 foals out of PIVOTAL mares. Frankel is also doing well with PIVOTAL mares, notably siring Gr.1 winners Cracksman and Veracious. New Approach sired the Oaks winner Talent from a PEINTRE CELEBRE mare. The MILL REEF line is a great option for Gleneagles. Galileo sired Gr.1 winners from three generations of descendants from Mill Reef, including ten Group winners from DARSHAAN mares and has 23% SW’s with MARK OF ESTEEM . Galileo has a Gr.1 winner from a BLUSHING GROOM mare, while RAINBOW QUEST sired the second dam of Frankel and Noble Mission. Galileo’s sons have already made their mark with this line, with New Approach’s Oaks winner Talent also having a second dam by RAINBOW QUEST . Gleneagles has Rahy in his third generation and his Gr.2 winner Royal Dornoch is therefore inbred to BLUSHING GROOM . Gleneagles’ speed could be reinforced by mares with AHONOORA blood. Galileo’s classic winners New Approach and Was respectively have a dam and a second dam by this top sprinter. Galileo has classic winners from mares by AHONOORA and INDIAN RIDGE , and both Galileo and Frankel have Gr.1 winners from INCHINOR mares. Gleneagles’ Royal Ascot winner Southern Hills is inbred 4x4 to the exceptional broodmare ALLEGRETTA . Gleneagles is crying out for more MR PROSPECTOR blood which resulted in numerous Gr.1 winners by Galileo. Other sons of Galileo have Group winners with dams by GONE WEST , KINGMAMBO , MACHIAVELLIAN , WOODMAN , CHESTER HOUSE , LEMON DROP KID , DUBAI DESTINATION , WHIPPER , MEDICEAN , VETTORI , OBSERVATORY , ZAFONIC , THUNDER GULCH , NAYEF and DUBAWI . Gleneagles has ROBERTO in his fourth generation, so there is again plenty of scope for a second line of this stallion whose descendants have done so well with Galileo. Galileo with a BERING mare produced the Derby second At First Sight while Irish Derby winner Treasure Beach has a second dam by Bering. Mares by Bering’s son PENNEKAMP produced Gr.1 winners Together and Lily of the Valley.
