HAY HARVEST Saving the hay each summer is vitally important for Coolmore. During the spring and early summer, grass grows at a fast pace. It is at its greatest nutritive value when all leaves are fully developed and seed or fl ower heads are just short of full maturity. There is usually about a two-week window of time in which hay is at its optimum for harvesting. Saving good quality hay is also highly dependent on favourable weather conditions. And with so much to do, in so little time, it’s all hands on deck!
