Coolmore Ireland 2020 Brochure
Fethard walls Fethard is undoubtedly the finest example of a medieval walled town in Ireland. Founded around 1200 by the Norman Lord William de Braose, the Town Walls, Holy Trinity Church and the Augustinian Abbey are amongst the reminders of Fethard’s long history which survive to this day. The magnificent Thosel (Town Hall), dating from the early 1600s was built as an almshouse c.1600, and came into use as a town hall sometime after 1763. It has recently become home to Fethard Horse Country Experience (FHCE), an interactive exhibition which aims to showcase the link between the people, the land and the horse in the surrounding area. For the summer season, from late May to mid September, visitors to FHCE are offered the opportunity to tour Coolmore Stud every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:30 and 2:30. For details and booking please e-mail enquiries@fhcexperience.ie or visit www.fhcexperience.ie Visitors to Fethard can also sample the culinary delights at Alla’s Patisserie, Dooks Fine Foods, Emily’s Delicatessen & Tearoom, McCarthy’s Pub & Restaurant or alternatively at Mikey Ryan’s in nearby Cashel. Enjoy!
