His sire Montjeu has been one of the greatest classic influences of modern times. With a flood of first-crop winners in the autumn, including a Gr.2 winner over six furlongs, Camelot could likely develop into Montjeu’s best stallion son. Camelot is bred to a similar pattern to Motivator, sire of the brilliant Treve. As Treve is out of a grand-daughter of DANZIG this line merits serious consideration with Camelot. Altogether three sons of Montjeu have Group winners out of ANABAA mares, so this is a compelling option. Montjeu sired Bracelet and Wading from a mare by GREEN DESERT . Camelot should be ideal for daughters of OASIS DREAM , INVINCIBLE SPIRIT , CAPE CROSS and SEA THE STARS . Camelot creates only 4x3 to DANEHILL when mated to mares by Danehill’s sons and his very first stakes winner has a dam by Dansili’s son RAIL LINK . Authorized, another of Montjeu’s Derby winners, has two black-type fillies out of GALILEO mares. As there is also a Gr.1 winner whose grandsires are Galileo and Montjeu, Camelot could be considered for mares with SADLER’S WELLS blood. Camelot’s first Group winner, Fighting Irish, has a dam by PIVOTAL , a stallion whose daughters have shone with other middle-distance stallions from the SADLER’S WELLS line. Montjeu sired Gr.1 winners in both hemispheres from GRAND LODGE mares. Camelot should combine with the SHIRLEY HEIGHTS line, as Montjeu’s son Fame And Glory had a SHIRLEY HEIGHTS dam. A mare by DARSHAAN produced the Derby winner Pour Moi to Montjeu and another produced the Australian Gr.1 winner Offer. Montjeu has four Gr.1 winners with two lines of Zeddaan. It was a KENDOR mare which produced 2017 Derby winner Wings of Eagles to a son of Montjeu. The BLUSHING GROOM line should work very well with Camelot, as Montjeu sired the Derby winner Authorized from a mare by SAUMAREZ . Montjeu had major success with MR PROSPECTOR line stallions, notably siring three Group winners from ZAFONIC mares. LYPHARD sired the second dam of Authorized, while his sons PHARLY and BELLYPHA also sired the second dams of some of Montjeu’s Gr.1 winners. LINAMIX is the broodmare sire of the high-class Montmartre. Motivator is showing promise with the STORM BIRD line, siring a Gr.2 winner from a BLUEBIRD mare and a Gr.3 winner from a CAT THIEF mare. SHARPEN UP is a path to follow with Camelot as Montjeu’s sons have Group winners out of mares by SELKIRK , TREMPOLINO , DIESIS and ELMAAMUL . Three other sons of Montjeu have Group winners from AHONOORA line mares.
