Coolmore Breeders' Handbook 2021

Daughters of the Champion sprinter ANABAA have a compelling record with Galileo and his sons. Galileo has seven Group winners from them, including the Gr.1 winners Lush Lashes and Capri while Gleneagles’ Gr.2 winner Royal Lytham is out of one. The CHIEF’S CROWN branch could succeed. Teofilo, another son of Galileo, sired Voleuse de Coeurs and Trading Leather from mares by GRAND LODGE and his son SINNDAR . Gleneagles’ Gr.2-placed daughter Precious Moments has a dam by GRAND LODGE . A growing number of Galileo’s stallion sons have important winners closely inbred to SADLER’S WELLS . Nathaniel’s brilliant daughter Enable is inbred 3x2; Teofilo’s Dewhurst winner Parish Hall is 3x3; and Frankel’s Oaks winner Anapurna and Gr.2 winner Eminent are also 3x3. Anapurna and Parish Hall are out of MONTJEU mares, as is Gleneagles’ Gr.2-placed son Highland Chief. Galileo has also enjoyed excellent results with the NUREYEV line, including siring 11 Group winners from 39 foals out of PIVOTAL mares. Frankel is also doing well with PIVOTAL mares, notably siring Gr.1 winners Cracksman and Veracious. New Approach, another son of Galileo, sired the Oaks winner Talent from a PEINTRE CELEBRE mare. Gleneagles’ first runner out of a THEATRICAL mare is the Group-placed Listed winner Measure of Time. In view of Galileo’s exceptional success with mares by STORM CAT (21% black-type winners), Gleneagles could be an interesting match for daughters of LOPE DE VEGA , or even SHAMARDAL and FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND . The last two create 3x4 inbreeding to the parents of Giant’s Causeway. The MILL REEF line is one of the leading options for breeders hoping to produce high-class middle-distance winners by Gleneagles, and his very useful son Highland Chief has a second dam by DARSHAAN . Galileo has sired Gr.1 winners from three generations of descendants from Mill Reef, including 11 Group winners from DARSHAAN mares. The BLUSHING GROOM line suits Galileo and his sons. Galileo sired the Gr.1 winner Galikova from a BLUSHING GROOM mare and RAINBOW QUEST sired the second dams of Frankel, Noble Mission and Curvy. While Gleneagles has Rahy in his third generation, this doesn’t rule out more BLUSHING GROOM blood and the Gr.2 winner Royal Dornoch does have a second line through his grandam’s sire GROOM DANCER . Gleneagles’ speed could be reinforced by mares with AHONOORA blood, and his Gr.3-winning 2020 2YO Shock Action has a second dam by INDIAN RIDGE . Galileo’s classic winners New Approach and Was respectively have a dam and a second dam by AHONOORA . Galileo has three Group winners, including a classic winner, from mares by INDIAN RIDGE , and both Galileo and Frankel have Gr.1 winners from INCHINOR mares. ACCLAMATION is out of an AHONOORA mare and his daughters have produced Group winners to three other sons of Galileo. Gleneagles’ Royal Ascot winning juvenile Southern Hills is inbred 4x4 to the exceptional broodmare ALLEGRETTA . Gleneagles is crying out for more MR PROSPECTOR blood as Galileo’s Derby winner Ruler Of The World and his top-class son Ulysses have dams by KINGMAMBO , his Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Red Rocks is out of a MACHIAVELLIAN mare and his Irish St Leger winner Order of St George has a dam by GONE WEST . Gleneagles already has Group performers with a dams by MACHIAVELLIAN and DUBAI DESTINATION . Gleneagles has ROBERTO in his fourth generation, so there is again plenty of scope for a second line of this stallion whose descendants have done so well with Galileo, and Gleneagles’ daughter Freyja is one of the latest examples. Galileo’s foals out of BERING mares include Derby second At First Sight, Irish Derby winner Treasure Beach has a second dam by Bering. PENNEKAMP , a son of Bering, is broodmare sire of Gr.1 winners Together and Lily of the Valley.
