MATING SUGGESTIONS: One of the most striking features of recent seasons has been the emergence of three top-class performers representing Galileo’s partnership with daughters of another champion sire, Danehill Dancer. Between them Minding, Sovereign and The Gurkha have won four classics, and Circus Maximus and Alice Springs have also won at Gr.1 level. The Gurkha’s contribution included winning the Poule d’Essai des Poulains by five and a half lengths before defeating Galileo Gold, Ribchester and Awtaad in the Sussex Stakes. He was also a close second in the Gr.1 Eclipse Stakes. The Gurkha comes from a top female line, as his first three dams were SWs while his fourth damVallee Dansante has a distinguished half-brother in that very good stallion Green Dancer, who also won the Poule d’Essai des Poulains. Daughters of GREEN DESERT have produced 14% Group winners to Galileo. Three sons of Galileo - Teofilo, Intello and New Approach - have already sired Gr.1 winners from grand-daughters of GREEN DESERT . Three of Australia’s Group winners - the Gr.2 2YO winner Beyond Reason, Buckhurst and Patrick Sarsfield - are respectively inbred 4x3, 4x2 and 4x4 to GREEN DESERT . This suggests that The Gurkha could shine with mares by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT and OASIS DREAM or their sons. OASIS DREAM mares have Group winners by Galileo and three of his sons. Galileo has Gr.1 winners out of mares by ROCK OF GIBRALTAR (2), HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR (2), DESERT KING , MOZART , DANSILI and EXCEED AND EXCEL (2). Australia’s first classic winner, Galileo Chrome, has a dam by DANSILI , his Gr.3 winner Epona Plays has a dam by ORATORIO and Australia is also making his mark with mares by DANEHILL DANCER resulting in classic-placed Sir Ron Priestly and the Gr.2 winner Leo de Fury. Two other sons of Galileo have Group winners with dams by Dansili, including Nathaniel’s classic winner Channel. Galileo has top winners from three generations of the Danehill male line, as his dual classic winner Winter has a dam by CHOISIR . Gleneagles has 2YO Gr.2 winner Royal Dornoch from a DANEHILL DANCER mare, Gr.3 winner Tabera from an ORATORIO mare and the 2020 Japanese Gr.3 2YO winner Shock Action from a FASTNET ROCK mare. Galileo has an excellent record with ANABAA mares, siring multiple Gr.1 winners Capri and Lush Lashes with them. 104
