The Magnier family have been in the stallion business for five generations, ever since Tom’s great grandfather and namesake Thomas Magnier began o ff ering the services of his stallion Edlington to the breeders of the Blackwater Valley in the 1850’s. In the early 1970’s Tom’s father John and maternal grandfather Vincent O’Brien joined forces with Robert Sangster and were ultimately to revolutionise the stallion business. Together they pioneered the shuttle concept which has played such a major role in rapidly improving the Australian breed to the world-class level of today.
