Breaking Under the xperienced eye of Evan Henley, every autumn yearlings raised on the farm and purchased at the sales are broken. Time, patience and experience are the vital ingredients required and at Coolmore we are fortunate to have some very fi ne horsemen and horsewomen. The breaking process typically lasts between six and eight weeks, where everything is geared towards giving the horse a gentle and enjoyable introduction to what will become his or her new way of life.

The team A great many people play their own part in making Coolmore the success that it has become. Whether it’s around the farm, in the of fi ce or at the sales, it’s all about doing things to the highest possible standard. Our skilled and dedicated staff are integral to the ongoing success of Coolmore and we could not achieve our goals without them. Thanks to one and all!

11

10

Agriculture and Agronomy Our award-winning herd of Angus cattle play an integral role in the pasture management at Co lmore. Horses are notoriously selective grazers and cattle will clean up areas within paddocks that have been ignored by horses thereby ensuring an even crop of rich pasture throughout each and every paddock.

Home Affairs

An $875,000 yearling by I Am Invincible from a stallion-producing family, he proved himself a high class 2YO when landing the Silver Slipper-Gr.2 . But he was only getting started! At 3 he won the Coolmore Stud Stakes-Gr.1 by 3 lengths in a faster time than successful sires Encosta De Lago , Northern Meteor , Zoustar , Brazen Beau , Star Witness and Flying Artie . He then became the first 3YO to win the Lightning Stakes-Gr.1 since Fastnet Rock in 2005 and did so in a faster time than both Fastnet Rock and fellow Coolmore stalwart Choisir . All in all, he’s a “no-brainer”. a demolition job that will live long in the memory. The stallion-making sprint feature attracted a star-studded field of 16, but Home Affairs blew his rivals away in a dazzling 3-length romp. He stopped the clock at a slick 1:08.73. Coolmore has a new superstar stallion-to-be on their hands after Home Affairs won the three-year-old championship race they sponsor, the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington…. The field was as strong as they come on paper, with a Blue Diamond winner, a Golden Rose winner, a Blue Sapphire winner and a Roman Consul winner among his rivals. Sire prospect par excellence As a 1,300,000gns yearling and a half-brother to Group 1-winning 2YO and brilliant Guineas winner Magna Grecia, much was expected of St Mark’s Basilica. Suffice to say, he didn’t disappoint. In a glorious 12-month period he notched up five straight Group 1 wins in three different countries defeating the best of his own and the older generations. The only horse since Frankel to be rated higher by Timeform than every one of his contemporaries in Europe at both 2 & 3 years. Stallion prospects don’t come any better! St Mark’s Basilica

I love him, he’s one of the best colts on the ground, mature and very fast looking. A real racehorse. I have bred to Yes Yes Yes and rate him highly. What he did in The Everest breaking the track record was remarkable.

Sean Dingwall

For Yes Yes Yes to do what he did against the best sprinters in the world in The Everest and not only that but to do it as an early 3YO was remarkable. His pedigree is genetically the best in the Australasian stud book and we’re not only keen to breed to him every year but pinhook his foals as well. We’re backing him all the way James Ferguson

“ A high class sprinter, an eye-catching type, a speed pedigree of considerable depth; Yes Yes Yes is a horse that ticks all the boxes “

He’s just a gorgeous horse... It’s a very Australian pedigree, and when you mix that with Snitzel , one of the best two or three stallions in the country, it certainly makes him an exciting prospect. We got an insight into Snitzel from Mr Snitzel himself… Best Of Bordeaux was stabled with Gerald Ryan during his autumn campaign. Gerald said to Kac on a number of occasions, ‘This horse is just a spitting image of Snitzel’.

And, interestingly, there’s a couple of old staff of Gerald’s who’ve been there for many years and looked after Snitzel ; they were doing double takes in the stable and getting selfies with the horse because they said it was the nearest

Ireland The Magnier family have been in the stallion business for fi v gener tions, ever since Tom’s great great grandfather and namesake Thomas Magnier began offering the services of his stallion Edlington to the breeders of the Blackwater Valley in the 1850s. In 1970 Tom’s maternal grandfather Vincent O’Brien won the Triple Crown with a colt named Nijinsky. This spurned a particular interest in the horse’s young sire Northern Dancer and joining forces with John Magnier and Robert Sangster a ground-breaking plan was formulated to attack the American yearling market for prospective stallions. The rest as they say is history with successes from those early forays funding the development and expansion of Coolmore into what it has become today.

Philippa Cooper of Normandie Stud who bred dual Classic winner in 2021 Hurricane Lane and Royal Ascot winner Mohaafeth from the first crop born and raised at Coolmore it’s not only the land at Coolmore, their attention to detail is extraordinary “ “

A great opportunity Speaking of his visit to Ballydoyle, famed trainer Michael Dickinso said: “If I had seen the Pyramids, Niagara Falls and the Great Wall of China in the same day it would not have created more of an impression.“ Following the phenomenal success enjoyed there by Tom Magnier’s grandfather Dr Vincent O’Brien and his unrelated namesake Aidan O’Brien, the place has become a legend in its own right. What is less known about Ballydoyle however is the growing list of graduates who have gone on to top level success having been sold to new connections. These include two Cox Plate winners, two winners of The Metropolitan, two Sydney Cup heros along with winners of the Melbourne Cup, Caul fi eld Stakes, Underwood Stakes and Tancred Stakes while most recently Russian Emperor (Galileo-Atlantic Jewel) landed the Champions & Chater Cup-Gr.1 at Sha Tin.
