Coolmore Australia Brochure 2020

Centuries of success. The land now farmed by Coolmore at Jerrys Plains, New South Wales, has a long association with horses going back to the 1820s when its owner George Bowman had a sire called Pegasus. In the 1890s the Ellis family stood a top Clydesdale stallion by the name of Gallant Scotchman. Then in the early part of the twentieth century the Moses brothers, William and Frederick, stood or bred outstanding thoroughbreds such as 1920 Melbourne Cup winner Poitrel , champion racehorse and sire Heroic and high-class galloper Manfred , as well as St Alwyne , Valais , Nightwatch and Valicare . Since 1996 Coolmore Australia has been home to the multiple champion sires Danehill , Encosta de Lago and Fastnet Rock , while there have been 60 Gr.1-winning graduates including Fastnet Rock , the brilliant juveniles Pride of Dubai and Vancouver and world champion Winx . It’s a success story because great horses start with good land, and at Coolmore Australia we take great care of both.
