MATING SUGGESTIONS: Scat Daddy left eight Northern Hemisphere-bred Gr.1-winning sons, the eldest of which - No Nay Never – is one of Europe’s leading young sires. Caravaggio, his next Gr.1-winning stallion son, is a leading contender to be European Champion First Crop Sire in 2021, already siring four SWs including a Gr.1 winner. This bodes extremely well for Justify, who proved himself Scat Daddy’s most outstanding son with a sequence of six victories which saw him develop into an unbeaten Triple Crown winner. There is every reason to expect Justify’s versatility to extend to his stallion career. Scat Daddy owed his total of 53 GSWs in the Northern Hemisphere to no fewer than 47 different broodmare sires. This suggests that Justify will also work with a wide range of bloodlines. There is ample scope to add extra lines of Mr Prospector. Scat Daddy sired the very successful No Nay Never from an ELUSIVE QUALITY mare. Scat Daddy’s success in Chile was based largely on mares by Gone West’s son SEEKER’S REWARD (the U.S. Gr.1 winner Dacita being an example). A grand-daughter of FORTY NINER , by END SWEEP , produced Scat Daddy’s very fast daughter Acapulco. Therefore mares by DISTORTED HUMOR have obvious appeal. Scat Daddy sired Graded winners from mares by SMART STRIKE and his son CURLIN . No Nay Never has two Gr.2 winners out of a mare by Smart Strike’s son ENGLISH CHANNEL . Other MR PROSPECTOR lines to do well with Scat Daddy are STREET CRY (broodmare sire of two Gr.1 winners) and THUNDER GULCH . EMPIRE MAKER mares had 20% SWs with Scat Daddy. Scat Daddy also had Graded winners from mares by UNBRIDLED’S SONG’s sons BUDDHA (Gr.1 winner Valid Point), SONGANDAPRAYER , FIRST DEFENCE and ROCKPORT HARBOR . First-crop yearlings by Justify out of mares by BROKEN VOW , EMPIRE MAKER and PIONEEROF THE NILE all sold for at least $700,000, there was a $950,000 yearling with a ROCKPORT HARBOR dam and a $625,000 yearling out of an UNBRIDLED’S SONG mare. Scat Daddy sired Gr.1 winners from SEATTLE SLEW line mares. TAPIT’s daughters produced 43% SWs to Scat Daddy. TAPIT mares create 4x3 to PULPIT and 4x5 to MR PROSPECTOR . Three of Justify’s first crop yearlings out of BERNARDINI mares sold for upwards of $600,000. The DANZIG line should suit Justify as BOUNDARY is broodmare sire of Gr.1 winner Combatant. No Nay Never’s Gr.1-winning son Ten Sovereigns has a dam by EXCEED AND EXCEL and his Gr.1-winning daughter Alcohol Free is out of a HARD SPUN mare. Scat Daddy’s exceptionally fast Lady Aurelia is inbred 4x3 to STORM CAT , as she has a dam by FOREST WILDCAT . Storm Cat will be back in the fifth generation of Justify’s foals, so there is plenty of scope for more STORM CAT blood. Scat Daddy sired Gr.1 winner Nickname from a grand-daughter of EL PRADO . Daughters of MEDAGLIA D’ORO and KITTEN’S JOY should be considered as Justify had first-crop yearlings out of mares by MEDAGLIA D’ORO and GALILEO sell for $825,000 and $750,000 respectively. Mares by MARIA’S MON and his son LATENT HEAT produced Justify yearlings which sold for $500,000 and $1,550,000. 29
