MATING SUGGESTIONS: Caravaggio embodies all that was good about his sire Scat Daddy. Like Scat Daddy, he became a Gr.1 winner at two. Caravaggio also followed his sire’s example by becoming a Gr.1 winner at three. He was winning for the sixth time in six starts when he took the Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Caravaggio ranks alongside Lady Aurelia, No Nay Never, Sioux Nation and Acapulco as one of 11 European 2YO Group winners sired by Scat Daddy and between them they collected five of Royal Ascot’s prestigious 2YO Group races. Caravaggio has wasted no time in siring fast juveniles. He had 23 first-crop winners to his name by early November and among them are four SWs headed by Tenebrism, winner of the Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes. Another daughter, Her World, led throughout in the Tyro Stakes on her debut. Caravaggio’s pedigree includes no duplications in the first four generations and it is free of most of the main North American influences. His Gr.1-winning daughter is out of a mare by PIVOTAL , a top-class sire who is bred on a reverse NOTHERN DANCER / CARO cross to INDIAN CHARLIE , the sire of UNCLE MO . MR PROSPECTOR will be back in the fourth generation of his foals. Caravaggio has already sired the stakes-winning Her World from a daughter of UNBRIDLED’S SONG . Daughters of SPEIGHTSTOWN , ELUSIVE QUALITY , MR GREELEY and GRAND SLAM could reinforce Caravaggio’s speed and daughters of MUNNINGS should also suit, partly because they create 3x4 to Holy Bull. Mares by DISTORTED HUMOR also have obvious appeal. Scat Daddy sired several Graded winners with mares from the SEATTLE SLEW line. Mares by TAPIT , with their Unbridled and Foggy Note blood, should work well with Caravaggio. Two of his best first-crop winners, including Gr.2 winner Agartha, are out of mares by sons of DANEHILL . The DANZIG line has supplied Scat Daddy’s son No Nay Never with two Gr.1 winners, Alcohol Free having a dam by HARD SPUN and Ten Sovereigns having a dam by EXCEED AND EXCEL . Caravaggio has plenty of potential with daughters of WAR FRONT , HARD SPUN , WAR CHANT , BELONG TO ME , BOUNDARY and EXCHANGE RATE . The HAIL TO REASON line also supplied Scat Daddy with several Graded winners, via sons of ROBERTO and HALO , including DYNAFORMER . TIZNOW mares would be interesting. Caravaggio’s dam is inbred 4x4 to Intentionally. Tiznow comes from the Intentionally male line and several of his best winners have a second line. Scat Daddy’s flying daughter Lady Aurelia is inbred 4x3 to STORM CAT and his Gr.1 winners Valid Point and Harmonize are inbred 4x4. As STORM CAT will be back in the fifth generation of Caravaggio’s foals, there is ample scope for a second line.
