MATING SUGGESTIONS: Scat Daddy’s son Mendelssohn was a late foal with a May 17 birthday. His dam Leslie’s Lady when mated to other Storm Cat line stallions produced the brilliant Beholder, winner of Eclipse Awards at the ages of two, three, five and six, and Into Mischief, a Gr.1-winning 2YO and a leading stallion. Mendelssohn topped the Keeneland Sept. Sale at $3,000,000 and he didn’t take long to justify his price. After finishing second in Europe’s top juvenile race, the Gr.1 Dewhurst S., he travelled to Del Mar to win the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf. But he isn’t a one-dimensional turf horse. He began his 3YO campaign with a Listed victory on all-weather and then took the Gr.2 UAE Derby on dirt by over 18 lengths, to earn a shot at the Kentucky Derby. Unfortunately, he was unable to give his true running at Churchill Downs after being badly bumped in the early stages, but he subsequently confirmed his talent on dirt, taking second place in the Gr.1 Travers S. There is also every reason to expect Mendelssohn to prove highly effective as a stallion. Scat Daddy has underlined his importance with the Triple Crown victories of his brilliant son Justify and No Nay Never ran away with the title of 2018 Champion first-crop sire in Britain and Ireland. Into Mischief’s career has continued its sensational upward trajectory, to the extent that his fee has risen to $175,000. Much of Into Mischief’s success has been based on the MR PROSPECTOR line. His Gr.1 winners Practical Joke and Goldencents are both out of grand-daughters of FORTY NINER . It was a daughter of END SWEEP who produced Scat Daddy’s very fast daughter Acapulco. Into Mischief also has two black-type winners out of CARSON CITY mares and a Gr.3 winner out of a mare by his son FIVE STAR DAY . Others are out of mares by SPEIGHTSTOWN (Gr.1 winner Mia Mischief), ELUSIVE QUALITY , GRAND SLAM and PROUD CITIZEN . Scat Daddy sired the very successful No Nay Never from an ELUSIVE QUALITY mare. Much of Scat Daddy’s success in Chile was based on mares by Gone West’s son SEEKER’S REWARD , with the U.S. Gr.1 winner Dacita being an excellent example. Scat Daddy also sired Graded winners from mares by SMART STRIKE and his son CURLIN . Scat Daddy’s son No Nay Never has a 2YO Gr.2 winner out of a mare by Smart Strike’s son ENGLISH CHANNEL . Two other grandsons of MR PROSPECTOR which have done well with Scat Daddy are STREET CRY (broodmare sire of Gr.1 2YO winner Skitter Scatter) and THUNDER GULCH . Other MR PROSPECTOR line stallions which appear among the broodmare sires of Into Mischief’s Graded winners are LEMON DROP KID , LINE IN THE SAND , VICTORY GALLOP and UNBRIDLED . Into Mischief also has black-type winners out of daughters of EMPIRE MAKER , UNBRIDLED’S SONG and SONGANDAPRAYER (Gr.2 winner Maximus Mischief). Into Mischief is shaping up well with mares by CANDY RIDE , siring three black-type earners from 15 foals. Scat Daddy also did well with the Fappiano line, siring Graded winners from mares by EMPIRE MAKER and UNBRIDLED’S SONG . Scat Daddy also had Graded winners from mares by BUDDHA (2019 Gr.1 winner Valid Point), SONGANDAPRAYER and ROCKPORT HARBOR . Scat Daddy enjoyed Graded success with the SEATTLE SLEW line, siring Gr.1 winners from mares by HOUSTON and SKY MESA . TAPIT daughters have produced two black-type winners among their six foals with Scat Daddy. Into Mischief has a Gr.3 winner with a dam by BERNARDINI . Scat Daddy owes several of his Stakes winners, including a Gr.1 winner, to DANZIG line mares. His son No Nay Never is excelling with mares descending from Danzig’s son DANEHILL , so this should also work with Mendelssohn. Other options include daughters of WAR FRONT and HARD SPUN . Scat Daddy sired the great Justify from a mare by GHOSTZAPPER and he also has two good performers out of mares by AWESOME AGAIN and FRENCH DEPUTY . His Gr.1 winner Celestine has a second dam by DEHERE suggesting Mendelssohn should be tried with mares with DEPUTY MINISTER blood. Scat Daddy’s exceptionally fast daughter Lady Aurelia is inbred 4x3 to STORM CAT , as she has a dam by FOREST WILDCAT and his Gr.1-winning son Sioux Nation is inbred 5x4 to Storm Cat’s sire STORM BIRD . HOLY BULL mares did very well with Scat Daddy, notably producing the top sprinter Caravaggio.

Mendelssohn , Into Mischief and Beholder are all out of Leslie’s Lady . They are also all Gr.1-winning juveniles from the Storm Cat sireline.
