Coolmore America Handbook 2020

JOJO WARRIOR Carson City Deputy Minister Gr.2 NOLDE Dixie Union Pulpit Gr.2 POSITIVE SPIRIT In Excess Somethingfabulous Gr.2 MATING SUGGESTIONS: As a juvenile American Pharoah won the Gr.1 Del Mar Futurity and Gr.1 FrontRunner Stakes resulting in the compilers of the Experimental Free Handicap awarding him joint-top weight. American Pharoah then secured the Eclipse Award and he justified all the confidence shown in him when dominating in every leg of the Triple Crown and winning the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Classic in track record time. In the process he showed all the talent, versatility, durability and courage which entitle him to the greatest respect as a stallion. He is now passing on his 2YO excellence, siring four Stakes winners before the end of October. American Pharoah’s bloodlines make him particularly valuable. His pedigree is free of such as A.P. INDY , SEATTLE SLEW , DANZIG , SADLER’S WELLS , DEPUTY MINISTER , ROBERTO and HALO . Mr Prospector is back in the sixth generation of his foals, Fappiano in the fifth and even Storm Cat will be back in the fourth generation. Empire Maker sired Gr.1 winners from mares by three different sons of SEATTLE SLEW , including champion Royal Delta from an A.P. INDY mare. Empire Maker’s son Bodemeister sired the fast American Anthem from an A.P. INDY mare and a Gr.3 winner from a MINESHAFT mare. American Pharoah must be a prime candidate for daughters of A.P INDY and his sons. His high-priced second-crop yearlings included a $950,000 colt with a MALIBU MOON dam, a $500,000 colt out of an A.P. INDY mare and a $410,000 filly with a dam by TAPIT . American Pharoah already has his first black-type earner with a dam by TAPIT . Empire Maker sired 14% black-type winners from daughters of SEEKING THE GOLD . There are numerous other options from this MR PROSPECTOR male line. American Pharoah’s first Group winner, the speedy Maven, is out of a grand-daughter of DISTORTED HUMOR and his DQ-ed Gr.3 winner Skygaze is out of a MARQUETRY mare. SMART STRIKE ranks as the broodmare sire of his second-crop yearling which sold for $1,300,000. American Pharoah has made a bright start with the SADLER’S WELLS line. Gr.1-placed Monarch of Egypt is his first runner out of a GALILEO mare, while Saratoga black-type winner Another Miracle is his first starter out of a MEDAGLIA D’ORO mare. He also has a $525,000 second-crop yearling with a dam by SADLER’S WELLS . MARIA’S MON sired the dam of American Pharoah’s Gr.1-placed son American Theorem and Maria’s Mon’s son SUPER SAVER is broodmare sire of a second-crop colt which sold for $800,000. Pioneerof The Nile likes the HAIL TO REASON line and American Pharoah sired ‘TDN Rising Star’ Princesa Caroline from a SAINT BALLADO mare and Gr.2 winner Four Wheel Drive from a MORE THAN READY mare. Mares by GIANT’S CAUSEWAY and other sons of Storm Cat create only 4x3 to STORM CAT . Empire Maker sired Bodemeister and In Lingerie from daughters of STORM CAT and Eight Rings from a grand-daughter. In addition to American Pharoah, Pioneerof The Nile sired the Champion 2YO Classic Empire from a grand-daughter of STORM CAT . It is no surprise then to see that American Pharoah has already sired his first Gr.2 winner from a mare by DISCREET CAT while his impressive MSW winners Emily’s Oasis and Homeland have grandams by TABASCO CAT and STORM CAT respectively. Therefore mares by sires such as TALE OF THE CAT , FOREST WILDCAT , HENNESSY , FORESTRY , INTO MISCHIEF and SCAT DADDY will surely suit American Pharoah. Empire Maker sired a Gr.1 winner from a mare by Danzig, plus Gr.2 winners from mares by Danzig’s sons BELONG TO ME and PINE BLUFF . This suggests American Pharoah could thrive with mares by other dirt performers by DANZIG , such as WAR FRONT and HARD SPUN . Empire Maker and Pioneerof The Nile both have black-type winners from a TOUCH GOLD mare. This suggests daughters of AWESOME AGAIN , DEHERE (sire of the grandam of American Pharoah’s Stakes winner Another Miracle) and GHOSTZAPPER , especially when Pioneerof The Nile has a Gr.3 winner juvenile with a dam by GHOSTZAPPER . A daughter of IN EXCESS produced Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming to Bodemeister and INDIAN CHARLIE sired the dams of a $2,200,000 first-crop colt and a $975,000 second-crop filly suggesting daughters of UNCLE MO will thrive with American Pharoah. 13
