More than a quarter of his many Gr.1 winners are out of grand-daughters of Danzig, sired by four different sons, but easily the most influential has been Danehill, whose daughters have 12 Gr.1 winners. Galileo has six Gr.1 winners from mares by four different sons of Danehill and struck gold with Absolutelyfabulous, a speedy mare by the very fast Mozart. Their son Magician possessed an admirable combination of speed and stamina. Fast enough to take the Irish 2,000 Guineas by more than three lengths, he later produced great acceleration to take the Breeders’ Cup Turf. The great thing about Magician from an American viewpoint is that he has very little MR PROSPECTOR blood. The son of Raise A Native will be back in the fifth generation in the pedigrees of Magician’s foals. This means he has numerous options. The STORM CAT line is rivalling the fabled Galileo-Danehill cross. Galileo now has eight Group/Graded winners out of daughters of STORM CAT and five of them are Gr.1 winners. Teofilo, another representative of the Galileo-Danehill cross, sired a 2yo Gr.1 winner from a daughter of GIANT’S CAUSEWAY . The classic winners Marvellous and Gleneagles are out of a full-sister to GIANT’S CAUSEWAY . Galileo sired Seventh Heaven from a daughter of JOHANNESBURG . Mares by SCAT DADDY are an option with Magician. Galileo sired the Epsom Derby winner Ruler of the World, Gr.2 winner Port Douglas and Gr.3 winner Ulysses from daughters of KINGMAMBO . Red Rocks from a mare by MACHIAVELLIAN and Order of St George from a GONE WEST mare. The SEATTLE SLEW line also appears likely to suit Magician. Three other grandsons of Sadler’s Wells have already sired American Gr.1 winners from this line, namely Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty from an A.P. INDY mare, the Arlington Million winner Real Solution from a PULPIT mare and My Conquistadory from a MALIBU MOON mare. Galileo has Gr.1 winners from daughters of three other sons of DANZIG . Teofilo, another representative of the Galileo-Danehill cross, already has numerous Group winners from DANZIG line mares, including three Gr.1 winners. Teofilo sired a 2yo Gr.1 winner with 3x3 inbreeding to SADLER’S WELLS , Magician is therefore an option for daughters of MEDAGLIA D’ORO and KITTEN’S JOY . Galileo sired Group winners from daughters of NUREYEV . Galileo’s brilliant son Rip Van Winkle is out of a daughter of STRAVINSKY . Galileo’s son New Approach sired the Epsom Oaks winner Talent from a grand-daughter of Nureyev. Other branches of the NEARCTIC line have to be considered, as another son of Galileo sired a champion juvenile from a PHONE TRICK mare. Galileo has two Gr.1 winners with an ICECAPADE second dam. Galileo shines with the ROBERTO line, siring Group winners from daughters of SILVER HAWK , DYNAFORMER , KRIS S. , LEAR FAN and RED RANSOM .
