A brief history… Ashford Stud is located in the heart of Kentucky’s famous Bluegrass and became part of Coolmore in the mid-1980s. Storm Cat’s sire Storm Bird , along with other top sires like El Gran Senor and Woodman , helped to establish Coolmore’s reputation on an international level through the 80s and 90s. In modern times champion sires Giant’s Causeway (2009, 2010 and 2012) and Thunder Gulch (2001), along with Scat Daddy , have paved the way for the current roster which features a combination of the best proven and up-and-coming sires in the country. These days champion juvenile sire Uncle Mo and American Pharoah , a champion at 2 and 3 who became the first Triple Crown winner for 37 years, headline the roster. In 2018 we welcome three new Grade 1 winners, Classic Empire , Cupid and Practical Joke .
